Read a book and grab a coffee!

Bookshops, Cats and Books on Film:

Durham City in County Durham is one of the gems in the North East of England. It's far from grim up North, and definitely worth the visit. From chain store like Waterstones, charity book shops and independent shops,(plus a great University library for the students). Buy a book from some of the local charity stores, grabs a coffee and read, then visit some of the great historical buildings here.

Some scenes for films Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone & Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets were filmed right here. Apparently the makers wanted to film at Canterbury, but their church officially were a bit sour on what they considered a pagan movie, because the books features wizards and witchcraft. Now Durham Cathedral weren't put off by the idea and welcomed the idea of filming scenes from the best selling book series there. It is a treat to see the place in real life (I enjoy visiting film locations). It really is worth checking out, if visiting the North of England. The architecture alone is worth the visit.

#Cats#catcafe

Whilst in Durham taking in the sights and sounds of this beautiful old City - I highly recommend this lovely cafe - to read a book, pet the adorable kitties, and watch the world go by.

If you fancy getting away from it all for an hour or want to eat at somewhere a bit different, then why not try a cat cafe! If like me, you love cats - then get yourself to Durham's Pawsome Cat Cafe. Great for a blissful hour of kitty cuddles and rather delicious coffee, hot chocolate and chai latte. I highly recommend the chai latte - so good. I would've loved this back in my student days too. So if you're a student college or University at Durham Uni, Teesside Uni etc - if you miss your fur babies at home, then this place is a blessing. Really wish I had one of these near back when I was a full time student.

If you're local to County Durham - then as a County Durham resident, I recommend this place for a light bite and a coffee for a unique day out. Great for tourists also - visit the cat cafe, and check out Durham Cathedral (you may notice some familiar spots used in the Harry Potter films there).

Delicious coffee, great service, and lots of adorable kitties.
